    Alright guys, Here's the last post, after which we strayed....lets either snap any discussions on this thread or continue to post only on the original content of the thread....

    As I thought about this further, I figured out the data is even worse than I thought earlier, as this may not have any 2007 numbers. People who filed their labors in 2007 were still waiting in july of 2007. So this data is only upto late 2006. Now the figures could be.

    Well said and I agree. USCIS can be more transparent and be clear. They can always tell us that it would take X years and people can plan better and decide accordingly. Why cant they do it is beyond my reasoning. Frustrating part is they wont do that! Everyone makes alternate plans and has a threshold for waiting. I guess this is what nitinboston was trying to say that dont be obsessed about it. Many people took it wrongly and started called names which just shows immaturity. Anyways, GC or no GC one should live happily wherever that be :-)

    Friends, I already have expressed the views regarding Recapturing/ temporarily increasing Employment Based Visa Numbers for Greencard, on change.gov website . I have been getting E-mails from Transition Team. I have pasted this recent E-mail which is about Meeting with Transition Team. I think, IV Core Team members or/and people living around Chicago area should arrange meeting with Transition Team, and express and suggest our ideas regarding Recapture/Temporary Increase EB greencard Numbers to clear the backlog.

    Everyday, we meet with organizations that present ideas for the Transition and the incoming Obama-Biden Administration. In past transitions, meetings like this have been held behind closed doors.

    Not anymore. Today, every Obama-Biden Transition staff member received a memo outlining the "Seat at the Table" Transparency Policy. I've included a copy of it below.

    The policy is pretty simple: the people and groups we're meeting with, the subjects of the meetings, and any documents shared in the meetings will now be made available on Change.gov. Most importantly, the American public can weigh in with comments or their own materials.

    Re: "Seat at the Table" Transparency Policy -- EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

    Overview:
    As an extension of the unprecedented ethics guidelines already in place for the Obama-Biden Transition Project, we take another significant step towards transparency of our efforts for the American people. Every day, we meet with organizations who present ideas for the Transition and the Administration, both orally and in writing. We want to ensure that we give the American people a "seat at the table" and that we receive the benefit of their feedback.

    Accordingly, any documents from official meetings with outside organizations will be posted on our website for people to review and comment on. In addition to presenting ideas as individuals at www.change.gov, the American people deserve a "seat at the table" as we receive input from organizations and make decisions. In the interest of protecting the personal privacy of individuals, this policy does not apply to personnel matters and hiring recommendations.

    Scope:
    The following information will be posted on our website:
    1. Documents: All policy documents1 and written policy recommendations from official meetings2 with outside organizations.
    2. Meetings: The date and organizations represented at official meetings in the Transition headquarters or agency offices, with any documents presented as noted above.

    This scope is a floor, not a ceiling, and all staff are strongly encouraged to include additional materials. Such materials could include documents (recommendations, press releases, etc.) presented in smaller meetings or materials or made public by the outside organization without a connection to an official meeting.

    If you have any questions as to whether documents should be included, please email [REDACTED].

    Process:
    Prior to an official meeting with an outside organization or organizations, Obama-Biden Transition Project staff members will inform attendees that any documents provided will be posted on our "Seat at the Table" website found at www.change.gov. Suggested language for email invitations is: "By presenting or submitting any document at a meeting with the Obama-Biden Transition Project, you agree to allow the document to be made public and posted on www.change.gov." At the completion of each meeting or upon receipt of such documents, Transition staff will provide the documents to [REDACTED] with the date of the meeting, a list of the organizations in attendance, and the topic of the meeting.


    Notes:
    1) This policy does not apply to non-public or classified information acquired from the Agency Review Process and internal memorandum.
    2) An "official meeting" is defined as a meeting with outside organizations or representatives of those organizations to which three or more outside participants attend.

    I am sorry srikondoji but i have to disagree on some points.

    "You can come to office at 9:00AM and leave by 6:00PM. No body asks you to stay late unless you work for a consultant. No body asks you to relocate unless you again work for a consultant." .
    Yes you can do that. But you work late coz people Not dependant on H1B's can leave on their scheduled times coz if they get laid off, they wont be deported if they dont get a job in 10 days. Sure there is No Formal distinction on paper between H1B's and Non H1Bs, but it is assumed that since ur application depends on the employer (entirely), you will put urself to the grind.


    You could easily get a legal immigration if you opt an easier path 'Marry a local'. So, again you have opted a hard way of going through labor certs, I-140, I-48 etc.

    What about people who come here already married? Now for those unmarried you have to marry a Citizen to get a Green card. Marriage is a totally seperate thing and is not something that should be used solely for getting a GC (IMHO). Sorry but i do not agree that marrying a citizen is an easier way of doing ur immigration.

    I wonder how many companies would sponsor H1B instead of outsourcing work if the USCIS/Legal fees of one H1B would be $15,000.

    Here is a suggestion for you:

    1) Book a round trip ticket for your wife to fly back immediately. Meanwhile, take an appointment for your wife with a local USCIS cert civil surgeon to take the TB test/vaccine. Take it wherever you can get it -near or far.

    2) Get lawyer to draft the RFE response. Submit the doc's report to lawyer as soon as you get it. (most surgeons will give it in a day or two after checking the bump.)

    This whole process should be done in less than a week if you can prepare everything else before your wife gets here.

    3) Wife flies back and continues with rest of vacation with kids. You can have your Euro vacation at the end too! :)

    Downside: Twins will have to be away from Mom for a week.
    Upside: Monetary Losses and life disruption cut as short as possible.

    Just in, Obama Administration wants to change law allowing employee to sue past employers and seek compensation. Current laws allows employee to sue for events up to 24 months in the past. This will change and suing employer is going to be a lot more easier. Bring it on baby, this time employees will be millionaires by suing body-shoppers. I am no longer going waste my money to buy lottery ticket :p

    4-6 months after your Notice Date. The date you give your FP has absolutely no relation to the initiation of namecheck by FBI.

    The submission for namecheck is generally made to FBI 1-2 weeks after your Notice Date. (The date one's data is entered into the USCIS CLAIMS3 system)

    NO..online status wont chnage.

    U can either call the 1-800 # or make an infopass appointment 4-6 Months after your first FP. If u plan to call, make sure u call 3-4 times because you might get conflicting info

    I got soft LUD on 4/10 and a hard LUD on my wife's application on 4/13. My attorney recd the RFE today and informed that USCIS is requesting evidence of my marriage to be bonafide.

    My attorney is asking for additional legal fees for replying to RFE. Gurus, do you think I should pay to the attorney or can I just reply to USCIS with evidence?

    What is this reverse brain drain ? there is no such thing - folks who are here are going to hang on tooth & nail to stay here come hell or high water - the only ones who are going back are the ones who have no other option.

    It is not really a reverse-brain-drain. It is just less than 100% people on work visas attempting to stay permanently. Reverse-brain-drain will be when American born (or well established people) try to move to other countries. Some living here for few years, finding difficult to get used to American culture, food, life-style, etc., might decide to go back to their native country, but that is not reverse brain-drain.

    Revere-brain-drain may happen in the future, but it is not there yet.

    I don't know why they are saying it is is TOP 10, remember it is not just the heading "Immigration" we are voting for!!! Please do not make that mistake, you cannot take back your vote!!

    The 1st Immigration question is for illegals at #4, looks like everybody thought wrong & voted for that!!

    "Some of you have been concerned about my post regarding the rejection of some applications received on July 2nd. I've been checking and it seems to be true that some cases were sent back that day. Apparently, the number of cases sent back is small, however, so that is good news. And you should have received the case back by now if you're in that group"
