Don't worry - IV core will appear out of the blue when:
1)- there is a good news - to claim the responsibility (regardless whos efforts)
2)- when they are in urgent need of funds (don't ask just give)
Local chapter is a joke for most of the states, in my state there were only 2 meetings in 6 months and in second no one came including organizer :D
So basically by not joining local chapter you are not missing anything! trust me :)

btw if people did not come to chapter meetings who is responsible? the leadership is voluntary and does what it can along with their regular jobs and life committments. those like you that perpetually whine and won't lift a finger need to ask some hard questions of yourself though. either this is a grassroots effort or it will certainly fail. fortunately there are members more committed than you who are actually doing things to help themselves even as i speak. there are meetings on with lawmakers and the admin changes campaign is moving. one state chapter has held a lobby day in DC this month and others are all set to hold their own efforts. if your chapter is defunct, help to give it life. or you could slink back into your hole of course...after complaining about others...

I am planning on sending some question so the Hillary Clinton Townhall. I will check in with the experts before I send them in
Clinton, Romney & McCain know about EB GC problems; they may not know some low level details. I don't know about Obama.
The questions are very very simple.

Fully agree with each word you said. Many people with legit US education (not TVU kind that many not so educated people on this forum are taking shelter under the umbra of) who have been in the US for more than 10 years are still lawfully waiting in the line. And this idiot with a BCOM and MCA ( correspondence course from IGNOU) is dreaming of porting into EB2 and screw us up. Shame on USCIS and Shame on DOL. I am really concerned that if legit EB2 applicants don't talk to lawmakers and send emails to USCIS, we will be stuck here for years due to these fradulent porting.

It would have been great if everyone could have a similar white t-shirt with a slogan on front that said
"Ask me about legal immigrants"
and on the back
"www.immigrationvoice.org"
Obviously this is not possible at this stage. How about everyone at least pinning something similar that is printed on a paper on their shirts? Similar to how runners do (http://z.about.com/d/studenttravel/1/0/s/H/ujena-marathon-solo-2.jpg)
It will help the organizers and any media persons in identifying the rally participants easily.

Ok, so here are some more thoughts ... obviously we are all stuck in our current positions and we are worried about the future. Unless, we do something to be prepared we won't be better off when we get our GC's? Given where most of us are I think we have two options:
1. Advance your education (MBA/PM/certifications etc.)
2. Start a business.
I would like to hear from everyone who has or wants to start a business.
1. Have you thought of starting a business?
2. What does it take to start a business while on H1B
3. Is it worth the effort not knowing if/when you will get the green card. Remember starting a business is not a short-term goal.
4. Are there businesses that cross borders i.e. we can continue to run the business even if we have to leave the US?

Hi All,
All this memo states is that USCIS will not automatically expedite the FBI name check simply because a writ of mandamus is filed. This memo signaled a national shift in the way USCIS responds to these types of lawsuits.
The U.S. Attorney's Office will now fight the writ of mandamus lawsuit by filing Motions to Dismiss and Motions for Summary Judgment. While this obviously lengthens the time it takes for a case to proceed, it is still very possible to win and force the government to adjudicate the application.
Hope this clears up any confusion,

This shows that the backlog is more than the numbers on USCIS website. People need to stop wasting time on tracking and spend time in their office work. Backlog means more business money for lawyers and trackers. IV is very small. Unless IV had hundreds of thousands of members, they cannot do lobbying like AILA or Microsoft. EB3 India and now EB3ROW is in a pitiable state. All those EB3ROW who used to be happy will now see the reality. Thank god I ported to EB2 but the dates for EB2 do not move enough. I think anyone who can should port to EB2 ASAP. This is the only solution.

One way could be to draft a letter in reply with the following points:
1. Definition of "pending" applications in USCIS lexicon
2. Breakup by year
3. Are these 485 applications only
4. Cna we get a similar breakup for the currently retrogressed major countries (India, China, Phillipines, etc)
Additionally, it might also be helpful to request the Senator to get some information from the Department of State with respect to how many applications are "pending" with them for consular processing, since they also come in the same pool of available visas.
