    Deadline = April 30th, 2011
Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign. The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.

    Dear IV Members,

If you believe that your success depends on your immigration process - whether it's the ability to file I-485 earlier or to get green-card and citizenship sooner or whether it's the ability of your spouse to work - then you have to believe that your success somehow depends on the success of Immigration voice and these 170 volunteers in DC next week.
As you may know, we are just one more week away from hosting Advocacy day in Washington DC where about 170 members of Immigration Voice will conduct nearly 250 meetings with offices of Senators and Congressmen. Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.

He might not be worth such attention at national level. But now he is in our area, attacking us. Trying to harm our future and create bad impression for us....
And that is worth every bit of attention my friend.

    Smartboy,
Since your case was reopened on 28th Sept, it must be close to 20 days now. As USCIS has to make a decision in 30 days, do let us know about the outcome of your case. This would give an idea for rest of us on what to expect.

    Thanks

I already saw a complaint on change.gov that 'people representing special interest groups from foreign nations may be flooding the change.gov system with messages and votes which may not be in interest of Americans, for whom the Obama administration is supposed to work for."

That said, let's continue to send messages and make our voice heard anyway! Good work folks!

I put mine in, let's go for more than 100 and don't forget to "bump" this message so it stays at the top!

I posted this msg on saturday and looking for some response from members.

    Thanks

Hello guys please let me know if i am eligible for filing WoM.

    My case details are:
    EB2, PD 02/12/2002.
    I-485 RD: 06/06/2007 and ND: 06/15/2007

I have converted my EB3 PD to EB2. Last month i applied for EAD renewal thinking that it might trigger my GC approval(some people still believe in this)

Today i received my EAD with 2 yrs extension. I consider this as a bad sign because USCIS clearly states that if the visa is unavailable then they will issue 2 yr EAD.

In my case my PD has been current since i filed 485 except two months in this year when EB2 was U.

I have opened 3SRs(on march, april, june 08), went for infopass once, written letters to 3 senators and 2 representatives on july 7th, 2008, sent fax to NSC, also sent letters to NSC and NSC director twice, called NSC several times. I could not get any status update other than the regular response(case is pending and waiting to be assigned)

After taking all these efforts i recently received response for one of the SRs(for june 08) stating these type of cases taking time for approval and i need to wait patiently.

I dont know if i can wait anymore because i have been waiting for close to 7 yrs.

Now in this situation can you guys please let me know what i should do and what should be my next move?

Do you guys think i am eligible to file WoM? if yes please guide me on how to do it.

Thank you so much guys. Looking for some help.

I wrote letters to Charles Oppenheim who release the VISA Bulletin about not using the VISA Spill Over.. I think this is the best option today to make a lot of noise by writing letters and there is a good chance that he will take notice an d release the spill over.... I urge all to write 2 - 4 letters to him ASAP so that we can see some action before next bulletin...

See the address... Calling will not hurt eother...

This is not related in any way to Immigration.

Not related, correct! - That's why he posted under 'Interesting topics' where many other non-immi topics are discussed. Those who are not interested will choose not to visit the thread by looking at the subject line.

I recently saw one case where an H1B application was reopened. The LUD was updated even after being approved more than a year ago. The reason was that the company had applied for an L1 visa for another applicant and the case received an RFE and all other immigration cases of the company came under review. The new L1 visa case was denied but the old H1B approval for another applicant did not get any denial or RFE. So make sure you work for a good company and have a clean immigration case, else there are some scares along the way. Thanks Pappu.

I have already contacted my previous employer's law firm and also my current employer's law firm regarding the developement's.

As you rightly said, each case is different so it is very difficult to generaize. I did google for any similar situation, but found out that all of the cases which were reopened were for I-765 , I-485 and may be as u pointed out for I-140.

But an H1 which was approved an year ago, I have'nt heard of anysuch thing.

There has been no fraud, mis-interpretation, complaint on my part and the niether did the law firm nor the US insurance firm...I am confident about that....

Lets see what the notice says..and I will update everyone of the findings...

It wouldn't hurt to verify which 140 is getting picked up. I got paranoid because when I contacted USCIS through service request, POJ and ncsc follow up email in September, I came to know that my application is awaiting visa number when clearly dates for my PD were current since Sept 01. Then I tried calling USCIS repeatedly until I got confirmation that both 140 were indeed in place.
After I initiated these requests, my app moved from "awaiting visa number" to " assigned to supervisor" after October 1st. In fact, on Oct 6th,there was LUD on 485 and on Oct 28th, a Hard LUD on my approved 140.
InfoPass won't help much. Usually they just brush people off saying that wait till your PD is current but IO's on phone give more information.

AMERICA MUST NURTURE HOMEGROWN HIGH-TECHNOLOGY WORKFORCE
--Op/Ed in San Jose Mercury News--

Senator Frist listens as Dr. James Wingate, President of LeMoyne-Owen College in Tennessee, expresses support for the inclusion of the SMART Grant program in this week's Senate budget reconciliation bill, 11/2/05
February 2006 - Every time I visit Silicon Valley I'm reminded of a simple fact: American businesses lead the world because they employ talented people. From the top executives at companies like Apple and Cisco to the science and engineering students I'll speak with Monday at San Jose State University, Americans sit on the cutting edge of technology.

We have less than 5 percent of the world's population but produce almost a quarter of its wealth and enjoy the highest per capita income of any large industrial economy. Americans receive more patents than the citizens of any other country, have the world's best university system, do most of the world's basic research, and take home the lion's share of Nobel Prizes in the sciences.

As many people working in Northern California's technology sector have realized, however, we can't afford complacence. China and India together now produce at least twice as many engineers as the United States. Both have fast growing populations and high-quality universities. In search of profits, companies have begun to outsource more low- and medium-skilled jobs to these nations.

No amount of funding, furthermore, would allow the United States to catch -- much less exceed -- China and India's combined production of scientific personnel. We just don't have enough people. Even at our own universities, foreigners earn an ever-increasing percentage of degrees in the hard sciences. Some remain, but many end up taking their valuable skills back home. American companies, meanwhile, have thousands of scientific and engineering openings that they can't fill.

If we hope to remain the world's pre-eminent economic power,/ we need to produce more scientists and engineers and train them better. One recent study, indeed, found that 85 percent of income growth stems from technological change.

While every American deserves a high-quality education, we need to target additional resources on the most talented students to ensure America retains its competitive edge. In particular, we need to provide an incentive to all of America's bright, driven low-income students who want to pursue careers in the sciences. Right now, far too many talented students from poor backgrounds drop out of college or shift away from hard science because of the expense. It's bad for the country.

One program that the president signed into law earlier this year takes the first major step toward fixing the problem. The SMART Grant program, which I developed, will focus assistance on students in science, math and strategic foreign languages who earn B averages or better during their junior and senior years of college. Next year, the California State University system estimates, more than 3,000 students systemwide -- including many at San Jose State -- will benefit from the program. Many will have their tuition payments eliminated entirely and the numbers will rise in coming years as the program attracts more people into the sciences. Thousands more students in the University of California system will also benefit.

Of course, tuition subsidies alone can't ensure that we'll have enough talented workers. In the coming months, Congress will consider the president's proposals to improve K-12 math education, increase funding for basic research, support high-risk/high-reward applied science projects, and make the research and development tax credit permanent. Fiscal realities, of course, will play a role in any final decision as Congress examines these proposals.

Silicon Valley companies already do an excellent job recruiting America's best and brightest. Now the government needs to build on its efforts to increase the ranks of homegrown scientists and engineers.

    Hey Sobers,

Great work....I always look forward to your postings. Positive energy like yours helps IV in more ways than one.

    Keep it up
