I applied for passport renewal (Chicago consulate) without name change form. In the Online application, I splitted the name as needed (earlier my name was under Given name). The renewal passport was sent to me with the way I entered the name (splitting) without any additional forms or affidavits.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, I am applying for a re-issue of passport to split my given name into Surname and First name (NO spelling changes.. just the name split).
1) While filling the online application form, what do I need to fill in "Other Address" field? Is it my residence address in the US OR can it be same as the permanent address in India?
2) How do I indicate my mailing address to the consulate to ship the passport back to me? (I stay far from NYC and I am planning to apply for new passport via FedEx).

There is no point in sending flowers knowing nothing gonna change. it is like putting flowers to us.
Everyone has a different reason for doing this. I for one do not believe, this will give us any interim benefits. But Iam here for the long haul (2-5 years). I know that if we need to fix the system (get visa cap raised), we have to start somewhere. This will, hopefully get some conversations started in the media/congress. Who knows, this along with other initiatives that IV is undertaking/undertaken along with industry support, we might get it done in a few years.
If not, atleast I would go to bed thinking I tried...

Did anybody stop to think that maybe Mr. thunderbolt is just pulling a fast one on all of us.
I mean .. it hard to believe that a parent would think twice before reporting a matter like this.
Tell me. Why should someone hire a illegal nanny in the first place? Knowing the consequences, why should they come on this forum and ask for support?
I strongly recommend thunderbolt to post the video on youtube and share it with all of us. He can share the link on sulekha also.
Well - it is his choice if he wants to complain to the police.
I am sure mr thunderbolt will never go to the cops because of his immigration status

Dear friends and fellow members at ImmigrationVoice,
Finally got the email today, Aug 13, 2009, from USCIS indicating that the card production has been ordered for me. No word yet about my wife's GC. Case still pending.
Relevant data for me:
India, EB2 - Priority date April 14, 2004
Texas Service Center.
Short of divulging my social security number, I will be happy to answer any and all questions about my journey so far.
Good luck to all of you.
Best Regards
Fred
NB to admins! If this is NOT the appropriate thread for this info, please let me know. I will remove this post. Right now this thread seems to have a lot of traffic and that's why I posted about my card process email here.

I think this is the best idea that I have seen on the forum so far. Out of all of them so far....rallies, flowers, pizzas . Really speaking, if this action is indorsed by IV, this would be great. I think this is doable and does not require any change in existing rules about visas. I am all for it and many thanks for the suggestion.

The Administrator2 is calling me and other handle MadhuVJ same person and accusing us. We are not and he keep accusing.
Big deal! So there are two or more people using the same computer/ IP address to post from two IV logins. In all likely hood if there are more than one person, MadhuVJ and GCStatus account users know each other.
Move on. If you really insist, there is only one way to settle this. Since its the same IP address, post your actual st address, a few IV volunteers if they are so inclined would have to visit the site and find out who all live/work there.

EB3 Guys,
Take it easy... This is just for humour, to have fun at these times.
No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India, own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. Retire by the time your kids become earners. Grow vegetables in back yard. Do gardening and have fun. Thats how life should be. Do not hope for green card. H A V E F U N.
good point ..for EB3 folks to invest any money in US in immovable assets when the status is in such a big big mess is like throwing HARDEARNED money away. sadly, There is NO hope in the horizon for EB3-I / C

kpchal2,
Your case may be preadjudicated.....(if at all that is actually true)....yet it does not stop USCIS from sending an RFE for anything especially it has been over a few months since they last saw ur case....and once an RFE is issued you again go back in the list and the wait continues to next year when the window again opens for a short time.
It is absolutely nonsense that preadjudicated cases are in a pile waiting for visa number...this is from my attorney....USCIS can issue n number of RFEs.....and each time it is issued it furthers the chance of green....

Thanks for the IV core team, and all others who helped to achieve this victory. I am just couple of days old member on IV but realized the importance of supporting IV for addressing the issues concerning our immigration community. I also contributed my donation as a token of my support. IV rocks!
Thanks a lot to all members for being with us in this struggle. We have tasted our first big success this year. Credit goes to each and every IV member. We were all affected by the visa bulletin fiasco and this is our victory. This is a victory for all our members and we must rejoice.
IV had worked very hard and had been pushing for this in the background. Our flower campaign, rally and other advocacy efforts all came together and helped us at a crunch time. We thank members that sent flowers and also walked in the San Jose heat for 4 hours. All that really shows our commitment to this cause.
We are happy that our efforts are successful and IV has been able to make a difference. Please also know that during this effort, IV was extremely active and decision makers heard our voice. We cannot give out all the details but what IV members should know is that these efforts should make each one of us proud and what we can do if we have a firm resolve. We were also the first to break this news even before anyone else or media could, and continued to update our members as time passed.
IV also thanks its contributing members and it is because of their contributions we were able to continue this effort. Many thanks to the members that are contributing now after this good news.
Please continue your support for this organization and be an integral member of this ever growing community, so that this journey can continue and we can end retrogression and have immigrationvoice as our voice.

Isn’t it odd that the timing of your rally coincides with the introduction of the Strive act?
Granted you scored a point when you were allowed to file for employment authorization this July. If your one rally worked, do you really think other rallies will work too? The world of politics is driven by numbers; you do not have enough numbers to get any lawmaker interested. So wake up Macacas, admit it, you all are bunch of losers.
So far as the skills are concerned, you have been harping on the theme that you are highly skilled? If the definition of highly skilled is a mere undergrad degrees then 75% of Adult Americans are highly skilled. I bet not even 5% of you have PHDs and you call yourself highly skilled. Huhhh
And this for the leadership of your organization: You are wasting your time. If you are so desperate to get green cards contact me. We will see what we can do… One thing I believe though is this country needs people with leadership skills and not so called "Highly Skilled". So I will be more than happy to work with you. I am sure you have my e-mail address. At the least, I can help make the process faster for you, if so called visa numbers are available.
Yeah it coincides with a hearing about it(it was introduced months ago).....................so what? You are making a point that you alone seem to understand. huhh..............poor communication skills.
"Numbers are the only thing that matter"................wrong again. Numbers and economic clout. If you doubt this then just have a look at how the lobbying industry works and what motivates them. The current and future economic clout of this community as well as its contribution to the economic infrastructure far exceeds the numbers. The point is this community has skills that are in demand, here, in Canada in the UK and elsewhere. Only narrow minded bigots like you can't understand that. Fortunately you and your ilk is in a minority in this much more enlightened country.
75% of Americans have undergrad. degrees...............where did you pull that one out of............you rear end? Care to quote a source? Since when did a Phd become a benchmark for highly skilled? Stop degrading yourself in such a pathetic way. You forefathers who struggled so hard to arrive here would have wanted better for you.
As for your effort to divide the organization, well the less said about that the better.

So you want this because EVERYONE will benefit from it, not "just" because you will benefit, right!!
Every man always has two reasons to do anything (1.) the right reason and, (2.) the real reason.
.
Oh God! put a lid on it , will ya?? You are not doing any help to anyone by your constant criticism on every possible thread...You have been a damp squib on ppl's enthusiasm here, sure please keep your opinions about how others are not responding to any Action Items to yourself and maybe go out and play squash, sweat it out at the gym or something to let your frustrations out, instead of coming here and constantly berating every one under the sun!

Cost of flight ticket, hotel and car : $520
Cost of metro tickets : $14
Cost of a couple of lunch + dinners : $50
Cost of taking cabs to visit lawmakers : $20
Cost of attending the meetings with lawmakers and seeing every IVian, that attended the event during the last three days, working relentlessly for the entire immigrant community stuck in the huge greencard backlog : PRICELESS PRICELESS PRICELESS :)
I think, the event was a huge success and the outcome of the meetings were positive. I wish at least one representative from each state participated in the event. Some offices insisted that they talk to their constituents.
Kudos to everyone who participated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is IV only for those who have filed I485?
I gave my opinion and people gave me lot of reds. There is a majority here who already have EAD and have filed I485. You people do not care for those who are less fortunate and struggling in the early stages of the process. If July 07 had not happened, all of you would be asking for I485 filing option today.
By giving reds to people who disagree you will drive people away and make IV only for those who have filed I485 and not for the entire EB immigration people.
Get real. I am not saying this because i have a EAD. Are you saying that no improvement is good enough unless it helps you at this moment.
This change proposal will also help you when you get to this stage. Try to understand, this may be possible without much legislative intervention.

please refer the dates before posting such useless information. very ashamed to see some donors do this kind of mistake. unnecessarily misguiding the people. for a moment i lost hope. if this time, the uscis (after all the preadjudication numbers and all) makes this kind of stupid mistake then the USCIS should be ashamed of its existence and DHS should shove its head in some uselss thing.
Here is what ron gotcher has to say and zI think it makes sense.
don't have access to the raw data. I have spoken with personnel in the Visa Office and they have been unwilling to give out precise numbers. Rather, they have used phrases like "limited numbers" and "handful of numbers" to describe the situation.
I believe these assessments to be accurate. I base this belief on the certain knowledge that the CIS has more than enough pending China and India and India E2 cases to use up the remaining quota without having to advance cutoff dates at all.
If the CIS were processing enough cases to close out the quota, there would be absolutely need for the Visa Office to advance cutoff dates. Advancing cutoff dates if the CIS were processing enough cases to use up the quota would only result in more cases being filed than could be accommodated. There would be no point in doing this and, in fact, it would be contrary to established procedure. The only possible reason for advancing cutoff dates under present circumstances would be to allow consular posts to adjudicate more cases from their inventories.
Does this mean that the CIS is not going to approve any China or India E2 cases? Of course they will? They are a big agency and they are always adjudicating some cases. There is a difference, however, between adjudicating some cases and adjudicating a large number of cases. If they were adjudicating more than a few cases, or even likely to adjudicate more than a few cases, the VO would not have advanced cutoff dates. Doing so would have been positively harmful. The fact that VO did advance priority dates is the best evidence that the CIS is not processing enough cases to exhaust the quota.
The best evidence of this will be the establishment of the cutoff dates for the October Visa Bulletin. If the cutoff dates remain where they are, then that will be evidence that there are plenty of E2 numbers available for China and India. On the other hand, if cutoff dates for China and India E2 retrogress significantly in October, that will substantiate the position that there were only a few numbers (relatively speaking) available. If the cutoff dates retrogress, as the folks at the VO assure me they will, then that is conclusive evidence of the accuracy of this conclusion.

Guys,
We might have a reporter who wants to write an article but is looking for an EB2 from the state of Texas. Currently we do not have anyone that fits the criteria. We would lose this chance which anyways are not easy to come by.
..
I am from Texas with NIW- EB2, non IT. If needed you can contact me or send me a PM.
I will try to write my story and send it to you.

Sugaur, here, try some history:
[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican%E2%80%93American_War]Mexican–American War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/url
There are far more complex issues/mindsets involved as to why people do what they do. Placing yourself "in their shoes" and analyzing is not good enough in this context. Your analogies of breaking and entering a house/raiding your fridge are incomplete/shallow and hopefully you will change your perspective after reading the history between these two countries.
Nevertheless, it is what it is today in terms of geographical distribution of land and I am not suggesting, Mexicans have rights over California/Texas.
So why bring it up at all? l have lived in Texas in hispanic majority communities. I havent met any who want california or texas to be a part of mexico. If we start bringing history into it, then the only people who should be here are the native americans.
What I am suggesting is that motivations for what people do can vary a lot and folks like you and I who come here on H1/F1 or whatever after completing our fancy degrees, can never understand certain ground realities.
You are wrong. The CHIEF motivation which brings you and me here AND the mojority of illegals is the same, the chance of economic prosperity and a better life. Even illegals will admit this. They dont come here because they think it belongs to them. Every nation has a right to make and enforce its immigration laws and every prospective immigrant has a duty to follow those. Immigration to the US is a privilege, not a right.
Looking everything via a legal/illegal magnifying glass can get you only so far. Basic respect for human life is extremely important without which there will be no difference between us and barbarians.
She got all the medical care she needed, on tax payer money. That is showing respect to human rights. How about her duty to follow the law of the land?
As you have started going this route of discussing the merits/demerits of this case and comparing with our situation, I would strongly recommend to let this go. You and I and many others here, do not have the knowledge of discussing these complex issues.
You insist on making it sound more complex than it is. It really isnt. Whats right is right and whats wrong is wrong.
The sheriff's treatment of illegals has little to do with law and order and has more to do with his personal hatred for Hispanics. It is documented where the Sheriff has made statements to the affect of calling these folks animals, disease carrying, who smell and dress up like animals etc.
This is propaganda. In this country no one can get away with doing what you claim he does. Shackling a pregnant woman when she is delivering is another example of the same attitude. You condoning that fact by statements like "woman is perfectly capable of delivering with a leg shackled" is just pathetic. It is not always about your 'legality/illegality' or your brilliant career or fantastic green card. Just pathetic.
What is pathetic is your blindness to discern right from wrong.
