I am in for the flowers thing. However I have a suggestion, sending flowers just to Director U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will not help much, we need to draw the attention on congress on this to increase the green card quota and get rid of country quota. Any suggestion how we can draw attention of congress by sending flowers on JULY 10th?
If things go according to plan... this news should reach the Congress!

One thing to remember is this provision helps STEM grads irrespective of their EB-class.
legal speak: right now law does exist. F1 to GC would be illegal. This provision is to make the conversion legal

Lastly, everybody's parents don't have so much money like you think. People do get 13% student loans in India to fund their studies.
Changing F1 to GC law to make it legal has as much chance as getting law change to not include dependents. I would rather support the latter then support F1 to GC law change
I do look beyond my own situation and thats why i support current spillover rules and filing 485 without current PD issue even though it does not help me directly in any way what soever and if fact is dterimental to my EB3 case.

The petition looks great! I'm languishing in the queue since March 02 (PD early 2002). No IO is willing to listen to anything about my case. Sometimes I hink we should meet up with USCIS director and explain how unfair the whole system works and how individual cases have suffered!

No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India,own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. As I had mentioned earlier, do not be under the misconception that just because you are working in a stable cash-rich comany and happy with your job, it can't get bad. Your company can move, downsize, close a branch or just fire you....given the current scenario, it will take atleast 5/6 years (if you are lucky and maybe more if you are unfortunate) to get a GC and all these years can go waste by any of the above happening

My GC process was started in 2001, my labor was approved in 2003 but since my company was closing the branch office where I worked, I had to move to the main office which was in a different state. Due to this my approved labor went down the drain. I moved to the state of the head office, meanwhile my company off-shored a major portion of the development office where I was working early 2005. After much persuasion from me the filed again but I had to either move offshore or take up a 90% travel job with the same company. Now, I travel and am away from my family during the weekdays. I have lived in USA for 6 years - legally paying my taxes, following all the laws and contributing to the society to the best of my abilities. I am currently on H1-B visa extension.
My wife is working for a company on H1-B. Her employer promised in mid-2005 that she would start the GC process for her so that we could have a backup. Till now her GC has not been started. My wife is in a dilemma of whether she should quit her job and join somewhere else. But if she does move to a new company, even they will not start her GC process immediately. With the retrogression my GC could take years....sometimes I wonder if the stress, living in constant fear not knowing what is going to happen tomorrow, staying far away from loved ones, all these sacrifices is really worth it when legal workers like me who have contributed to the economy of America seem to have no value in this country.

Someone recently compared getting the green card to getting a ration card. Somehow that seems very appropriate.
If the memo is true, then it is good news in the sense that no visa numbers were wasted. It will be great news if one of the visa number were alloted to me....but then I would only be selfish wont I.

Are we still compiling or the stories have started going out to the right people. It was amazing to watch Sen FIenstein talk about a poor hardworking undocumented worker in the US. She was so eloquent. Every passing day makes u feel more like a 2nd class citizen. Anyways, let us chug on. I had sent my story. Pls let me know If you would any further action from the story senders like myself.

The IV core members are still working and talking to senators and congressmen. In fact one of the core members of IV met with his congressmen today and it was a very productive meeting
The media team has also got some very important leads. Thanks to all the contributors of stories, we were able to immediately capitalize on an opportunity from a world renowned publication. We are hoping that this will be out soon.
Another US top-3 publication's article is in the works too.
As I had mentioned earlier, we have received quite a few stories and its encouraging to see people now willing to speak publicly and realizing that maybe it won't help, revealing one's story will not hurt for sure. Plus, we will never be able to conduct rallies like illegals. Approaching media with our stories is the only way to get ourselves heard.
Someone had asked a question that how many stories have we received. The answer is about 20. That might seem a lot but let me give you a very recent example of how this was too little.
We were approached by a award-winning reporter to provide her two members of IV that fit two criteria
1) Should be non-IT
2) EB1 or EB2
Given the 20 stories we had only 2 such folks that fit the criteria and they who were gracious and spoke to the reporter. The reporter then wanted to speak to one more person and we did not have any readily available person. So we had to do a crazy search for a person that fits this criteria. We were able to find someone at the last moment and we did not squander our chance. But chances are pretty high that such a thing can happen in future!
We might have a reporter who wants to write an article but is looking for an EB2 from the state of Texas. Currently we do not have anyone that fits the criteria. We would lose this chance which anyways are not easy to come by.
Also, when our IV core member met with the congressman today, he asked for someone who was suffering in his district. Fortunately our core member was from his dictrict and hence we were okay, else it would not have been a productive meeting!
So please please send us your stories......we will not reveal your info to anyone without your expressed permission. We promise....

Long time back when the british ruled India a lot of our ancestors joined their ranks and spit on fellow Indians. They were not realizing that actually the british were using them to rule effectively. That same trait has remained ever since. This is one of the greatest sin of the Indian and also many other third world cultures. They act on opportunistic thought patterns trying to gain favor whenever the opportunity arises even if it meant spitting on their own relatives. Sympathy, compasssion, honesty and integrity is often forgotten and/or purposefully suppressed for apeasement of the rulers. The feeling that you are being ruled and not in control of your own life is what really promotes such self righteous thoughts.
If you analyze this situation you will realize that there is a debate going among american citizens regarding legalizing the 11 million folks here and those favoring are in majority now. Realize then that this is a transition phase and those who dont like this to happen are trying to do as much harm as possible. causing a girl to deliver while being tied down and asking you and me to take a driving test each time you go to extend your visa are all part of this very same process. Remember that there are many many times more americans who would support, love and care for that girl than those who care/resepct/love you.
