I totally agree with supporting IV.
The question is none of the Admin fixes in last one year has helped EB3-I. In fact, it made our situation even worse.

I agree with most of your comments here. I am more realistic than most people here in the forums. So, I dont want all ducks in a row and world peace issues sorted out. Because, I know that is not happening anytime soon.
True, in a election year and with all the anti-immigration sentiments around, it is highly unlikely that something will happen in the near future. So, NO. I am not waiting to see some success, before I join the band wagon. When you started IV a few years back, I am not sure you envisioned this many members today. Inspite of having over 25000 members, the admin fix compaign only seem to have received about 10% letters. So, What are the other members doing? Why are they not participating? what is holding them back? That is a question for everyone of us. That is something, I thought every member should reflect upon. We have around 25000 members here in IV. But, we know for a fact that there are atleast a million people waiting in line. How do we reach them and how to get them to actively participate in IV action items?
Like you said, IV is a grass roots organization and it is up to the members to make things happen. But how? Apart from these action items for admin fixes etc, Can't IV have a membership drive? Get more people to join IV and contribute.
I know for a fact, that there are so many people here in Nebraska who have no clue about IV. I have been educating them when I get an opportunity. A Local Chapter could easily solve the problem. But, until now, I had no clue as to what is required to start a chapter. (Thank you Walking_dude). Answers to questions like this is what I meant by transaparency. Also, When I suggested about honarary payments to core team, I am not trying to belitte anyone in the team. I just thought, that you and other members of the core team should be compensated for all the efforts you put in. After all, these efforts and money you spend is going to benefit me and every other aspiring immigrant of this country. So, It was just a thought.
I will try my best to lay the foundations of IV presence here in NE. I would welcome any suggestions and comments.

We see more and more members getting motivated as time goes and this is a good sign.
We have started off a lot of publicity campaigns like advertising on local radio, different sites, mailing lists, emails, invite a friend, free legal counsels, meet and greets and it just goes on.......
You are most welcome to take initiative and execute it and IV members will provide you all support u need.

I believe it was last year(not sure exactly) when USCIS started this new initiative where the AILA members can send an email and "Remind" them that a particular case is current. Basically you will send an email with the subject

I have read my post couple of times before posting to avoid any mis-communication...but it's never possible to prevent I believe:)
I have a recurring contributions setup and also contributed what ever I could this holidays...probably will contribute more before the end of the season. My post is not about the Monthly contributions made by you, me or many others...who signed up.
It's about the ones' who cannot for what ever the reason may be....you and me pointing to the salaries or house-hold incomes will not help them join the wagon.
It's about increasing the donations irrespective of people joining the monthly-contributions scheme....Other viable options...may be having a IV donation boxes...in immigrant owned businesses....etc.
In an ideal world as you mentioned atleast 20000 of 25000 will contribute monthly....It's defintely good to aim for that....but that's not realistic.

Your attorneys are right. There is not much advantage. Only gray area is the duration between the expiry of your I94 based on AP and the actual renewal of your H1. But many people have been through this and they renew with out any problem.
Another issue is the requirement of some eurpean countries for a Transit visa if you dont have the visa stamped. If you plant to travel frequently, this adds up to quite some money and hassel. I had to get VAT for France and cost me $180 for myself and wife. But apart from this one issue, using AP is clearly easy and a good alternative as you can also maintain H1. I am giving it a strong consideration and will decide if I should cancel my Visa appointment. Will see more feedback and decide.

Dont even think about it unless you are a quant and have resources that can compete with the Hedge funds. Commodities do not behave like stocks, you need to be able to model prices using multi variate models. Then there is jumps. You should be familiar with jump diffusion/step functions etc. To be able to model these you will need to use a factor model like the Pilipovic model. Even then it will only be an approximation.
Commodities are purchased as futures. Futures are derivatives and you will need to hedge them. A perfect hedge for a future is 1:1 in the spot. Since there is no arb here you will have to use options. To model the price of an option you will have to be a master of Black-Scholes option pricing model or a similar method like monte carlo simulation. Even if you figure all this out you will have to delta hedge. Delta hedging commodity options is very expensive, you will bleed money. Look up Hodges-Nuberger model for delta hedging options on derivatives.
I suggest a book by Daragana Pilipovic called "Energy Risk", buy it and read it. After that if you still feel you can take on hundreds of computers running parallel with teams of quants modelling prices and programs trading algarithimic models; then Good luck!!

I am not aware of anyway to check if money order is enchased or not, because, I think, you have to pay money upfront when you buy money order. However, I can be wrong.

Absolutely there is a way to track if a money order has been cashed. The customer service # and order # for the money order are usually listed on the bottom stub which the buyer keeps. Just call the customer service #, plug in your order number and the system should tell you if it has been cashed or not.

Thanks for the excellent info on pending applications. Now we can guess why EB3I is crawling for past few years.
With regular quota of 3000 per year EB3I (until July 2007) will be cleared in next 20+ years.
